It is an image converted to text so it can be embedded directly in HTML, CSS or JSON as a data URI, without a separate file.
When should I use Base64 images?
For small icons and images (under ~10 KB) to save HTTP requests. Large images are better as normal files because Base64 is about 33% bigger and cannot be cached separately.
How do I use it in CSS?
Use background-image: url("data:image/png;base64,…"). The tool gives you the ready CSS line.
Why use URL-encoded SVG instead of Base64?
SVG is text, so URL-encoding it is usually smaller than Base64 and still works in CSS and HTML.
Are my images uploaded?
